With the opening of War Inc. at Tribeca, the movie brought to the screen the issues surrounding disaster captialism and the whole idea of governments creating choas and distaster to only be percieved the “hero” while making huge sums of cash cleaning it up and taking control of the territory.
This idea is not new and as we look around the world we see this theme in many governments. After reading The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism by Naomi Klein and Reconciliation: Islam, Democracy, and the West by Benazir Bhutto, there are similiar accounts to confirm this behavior. One such account by Benazir Bhutto is found on page 79 of her book.
It is my fear that unless extremism is eliminated, the people of Pakistan could find themselves in a contrived conflict deliberately triggered by the militants (or other “Islamists”) who now threaten to take over Pakistan’s nuclear assets. Having a large Muslim nation fall into chaos would be dangerous; having the only nuclear-armed Muslim nation fall into chaos would be catastrophic.
Benazir Bhutto proves in her book that Muslims can live in a democratic world as it is stated in the Quran. It is the governments that bring about radical interpretations of the Quran to suit their purpose. Think about this…
Monotheism, the belief that one soul created the world, appears in the three most practiced religions: Islamic, Christianity, and Judaism. In each religion there is the fundamental principle for equal rights between diverse cultures. If God wanted the world to be governed by one force, then he would have made it that way. Diversity equals survival. Respect and equality are the most important principles in any religion, culture, and race.
Fear is the most powerful emotion that governs each of us, and we, as a global collective, must pull together to make our voices heard and our actions prevail for equality, respect, and peace as one diverse co-operative.
